Bio

My iconography does not seek to express personal emotion or subjective vision. It is not expressionist or surrealist, though it may echo their intensity. My work stands apart from modern Western art, rooted instead in the tradition of Orthodox iconography, where the icon is not an image, but a presence.

Each icon is created in silence, prayer, and isolation, not to depict feeling but to reflect the grace of the saint and invite the viewer into stillness. These are not artworks to observe, but sacred spaces to enter—intended for private prayer, reflection, and intimate encounter.

Using oil and mixed media, I focus on contextual icons and those bearing the names of patron saints. In these, divine revelation—not symbolic gesture—takes precedence. The aim is not to portray, but to reveal; not to impress, but to draw the soul into communion.
